High School Diploma or GED- and graduation from an accredited paramedic program (through a professional institute or a college/university) (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year- At least 1 year of Advanced Life Support experience in a pre-hospital (911) or inter-facility transport program (Required)
2 years- At least 2 years of related experience (Preferred)
Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) - Required
AHA HP , ACLS - Required
Specialty certification in pediatric/neonatal critical care transport - Required within 2 yrs
Certifications from the State of Maryland, Virginia, The District of Columbia (DC and MD certifications prior to completion of
orientation).- Required within 120 days
Specialty certification (PNCCT , CCEMTP ) Preferred
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

1. Ensure a quick response to all transport requests.

9. Document patient care as specified by department and hospital guidelines.

3. Maintain an open line of communication with the referring physician, ECIC and the CNMC physician as the patient’s condition warrants during transport.
4. Communicate all pertinent patient information in both written and verbal form.
5. Provide written and verbal report to receiving provider in an organized and timely manner.
6. Complete patient transport documentation.
7. Provide staffing in the Emergency Communications and Information Center .
1. Responsible for safe loading and unloading of patients and family and to ensure patient and equipment are safely secured during transport.
2. Maintain current knowledge of locations and efficient travel routes to referring facilities.
3. Maintain ambulance in clean and neat working order and ensure adequate inventories of supplies including patient care equipment, linen, vehicle fuel and fluids; complete all equipment and safety checks as soon as possible during shift.
4. Provide prompt notification of deficiencies identified during safety checks.
5. Anticipate patient needs and secure proper equipment and personnel.
6. Promptly communicate safety and equipment concerns per policy.
7. Maintain CNMC Transport Team safety standards.
1. Supervise Emergency Medical Technicians during ground transports.
2. Complete daily basic vehicle maintenance checklist and maintain responsibility for vehicle fleet.
3. Maintain transport vehicle readiness, include cleanliness, equipment and supplies.
4. Recognize recurring problems and participate in their resolution.
5. Participate in the transport data collection.
6. Assist in marketing and public relation events.
7. Actively participate in patient review and performance improvement projects.
8. Assist with appropriate clinical duties within institution.
9. Assume self-directed role during low periods of activity.
