Social Worker- Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder - (190000BU)
As a member of the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (CASD), the social worker will provide clinical support and case management services to children and adolescents with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as coordinate care with other members of CASD’s multidisciplinary team (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, speech and language). The social worker will also see patients for individual/family therapy and have the opportunity to develop a parent mentoring program. Other responsibilities include: fostering positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, providers, hospital staff, and community agency representatives; providing comprehensive psychosocial assessments and, based on findings, facilitating appropriate interventions; and, effectively using interpersonal communication skills to resolve conflicts and promote a healing environment.

Post-MSW experience as Social Worker, LICSW in DC and LCSW-C in Maryland, experience working with children and adolescents with ASD
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to relate to divergent patient populations.
Sensitivity to individuals from varied backgrounds and cultures.
Must be licensed in the District of Columbia at LICSW and in Maryland at LCSW-C,

1. Facilitate interventions, based on assessment, family and staff requests, and timeframe.
2. 2 Facilitate the child protection process of assessment, referral, plan, and implementation, if appropriate.

4. Facilitate the discharge planning process by working with Case Management staff, nursing staff, and physicians.
5. Communicate with relevant hospital staff about patient care issues to insure continuity of care.
6. Advocate for patient and family needs within the hospital system.

1. Research appropriate resources to assist families to care for their children at home.
2. Share information with relevant agencies, respecting patient/family confidentiality.
