This postion is in the Send Outs department in the Clinical Laboratory. This role is responsible for processing and packaging the specimens being sent to various reference labs that Children's National Hospital uses for outside testing. Great customer service skills and attention to detail are needed for this postition. There are phone calls, faxes and emails to be sent out to clinical staff regarding information needed or updates of results, so these two skills are emphasized with this position. Additionally there is frequent communication with the reference labs themselves.The work is largely independent though the person needs to be a team player because there is a lot of interaction with both internal and external customers.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's in Medical Technology or equivalent related field of science (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year Experience in an accredited clinical laboratory (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Math Ability Level: Statistics preferred
Good interpersonal and communication skills important
Knowledge and skills related to LIS desirable
